No expectations, just come with an open mind and let the experience unfold. You'll leave feeling refreshed, grounded, and ready to take on the world with a renewed sense of purpose!

What is Cacao?

The cacao tree (Theobroma Cacao) produces pods that are cut to reveal cacao seeds (beans) that are dried and fully fermented. To produce 2 pounds of chocolate, around 250-550 cocoa beans are processed by roasting, cracking, and shelling to create nibs. The nibs are then ground into a thick paste and cooled.

Cacao trees grow deep in the rainforest and take up to 5 years to grow with a lifespan of 100 years.  History confirms the cacao tree was known to be domesticated over 5,000 years ago.

Have you seen cacao everywhere lately? According to Aztec lore, cacao will emerge from the rainforest when the world is out of balance. Ceremony facilitators are drawn to share this balance with others and carry the hope that each attendee’s heart will be opened and forever ignited with love. Afterall, it is only the frequency of love that has the energetic power to heal.

What should I expect?

Cacao contains phytochemicals, theobromine and a small amount of caffeine. Cacao is well documented for it’s positive mood boosting effects. The compounds anandamide and PeA increase serotonin uptake which attributes to an overall feeling of happiness and contentment. Within 20-30 minutes, a warm buzz is generally felt with full effects by the 30 minute mark. Feelings of slight euphoria, increased alertness, increased energy and inspired creativity are common.

What should I bring?

Yourself and an energy of openness! Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a pen & journal if you feel moved to do so.

What is Fair Trade?

As you can imagine, Cacao holds a very high value. For millennia, people have been exploited, trafficked and harmed out of greed and ego. It is incredibly important that ANY chocolate you consume comes from a reputable source. Fair Trade is a word used to denote the use of ethical purchasing practices when purchasing from less economically developed countries. The label indicated that the producer received fair and ethical pay for their products. The cacao currently being used in ceremony has been ethically sourced from Mystical Yoga Farm in Guatemala. It is single source and was hand peeled in Lake Atitlan, Guatemala.
