About the Host, Jean Taras

I’m an art therapist​ who's been passionate about art since I was a little girl drawing on IBM paper at the dining room table with my brother. Making art has always been a source of comfort for me, and when it came time to choose a career path, I knew art would be in my future somehow. I attended the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and majored in Fine Arts/Art Education, but I realized that teaching wasn't my true calling. I had to change my trajectory and enrolled in Edinboro University where I received my master's in Art Therapy/Clinical Mental health.

I work with women of all ages, using art therapy to guide them through life and all of its challenges. I believe that artmaking is emotion-based and that there are reasons behind each piece of art created. And when my clients have those “ah-ha” moments - I know what I believe in is working! I've seen the positive results of art therapy when working with clients facing an array of struggles. Working with my clients is an honor, and I learn so much from them every day.
